- Evaluation:
- the assessing and judging the value of a piece of work, an organisation or a service. Its main purpose is to help an organisation reflect on what it is trying to achieve, assessing how far it is succeeding, and identify required changes.
- Self Evaluation:
- evaluation which is owned, controlled, and often carried out by the project‘s participants, primarily for their own use, as an integral part of the organisation‘s life. It is a learning process which actively involves participants in reflecting critically on their organisation, and the issues to which it is responding.
- Monitoring:
- is the routine collection and recording of information about a piece of work or an organisation, to keep track of day to day activities and operations. Its purpose is to provide regular feedback on how things are going and help the organisation make decisions.
- Quality:
- can mean a lot of different things. It generally can be described as 'fitness for purpose', with the idea that a quality service is one which does what it is intended to do and is responsive to the needs of the user.
- Community Development:
- is about building active and sustainable communities based on social justice and mutual respect. It is about changing power structures to remove the barriers that prevent people from participating in the issues that affect their lives. Standing Conference on Community Development:2001
- Small Voluntary Organisation:
- a small voluntary organisation is defined by the Evaluation Trust as a voluntary, community, user or carer-led organisation having no more than 1-2 employees, and having an annual turnover of under £100,000.
